Our partners
GFI India’s research insights and technical advisory to academic institutions and innovation centres connect scientific capability with industry, policy, and market priorities in India’s smart protein sector. Our engagements span insights and advisory on research, talent and curriculum, innovation strategy, and commercialisation pathway development.

IIT Kharagpur
GFI India’s advisory focuses on applied research capabilities in smart protein, focusing on solid-state fermentation-based mycoprotein production and AI/ML-led process optimisation for fermentation-derived proteins.

ICAR-NBPGR
The collaboration brings together the expertise of ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR) in plant genetic resources and genomics-based profiling with GFI India’s technical and market intelligence on ingredient diversification, crop optimisation, and industry requirements to map India’s vast reservoir of underexplored legumes and oilseeds for smart protein applications.

NIFTEM-K
GFI India is a technical advisor to the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Kundli (NIFTEM-K) for strengthening research, curriculum, and workforce development pathways for India’s smart protein sector. GFI India provides technical expertise on courses, special lectures, workshops, training programmes, and certificate-led learning opportunities for students and sector stakeholders.

BRIC-inStem
GFI India is working with BRIC-inStem to provide insights on translational research in smart protein sciences and identify commercially relevant opportunities across emerging protein modalities. The engagement is structured to support research scoping, talent alignment, and industry collaboration, creating pathways for knowledge transfer, product development, and future commercialisation in India’s smart protein sector.

IIT Madras
GFI India advises IIT Madras on smart protein-focused translational research and talent-development projects. Together, with GFI India’s research scoping, technical advisory, and industry insights, and IIT Madras’ scientific expertise, laboratory infrastructure, and instrumentation capabilities, the partnership aims to create pathways for applied research, knowledge transfer, and potential product development.

ICRISAT
GFI India offers technical expertise to the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) to assess the role of climate-resilient crops in alternative protein applications and related business pathways. The collaboration includes stakeholder training, network engagement, and the development of a Centre of Excellence to connect crop science capabilities with emerging opportunities in the smart protein sector.

CSIR-IHBT
CSIR IHBT is an academic partner providing crucial scientific support and access to state-of-the-art laboratories and instrumentation facilities for GFI India’s projects.

CSIR-CFTRI
GFI India and CSIR−Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) develop projects in translational R&D for plant-based and fermentation-derived smart protein technologies. Beyond research insights, GFI India’s advisory spans curriculum design and providing strategic linkages with laboratories, bio-incubators, funding agencies, and industry partners.
