Amrutha holds a bachelor’s in microbiology from Chennai and a master’s in food science from UCC, Ireland. In her previous role as a research assistant at the Dairy Processing Technology Centre, Ireland, she worked on research projects involving milk seasonality, composition, and functional indicators. She also had the opportunity to interact with key stakeholders in academia and industry. She has worked on university-level research projects in topics such as bioremediation of soil, and prebiotic human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). Amrutha’s true passion lies in the science of smart protein—having always admired GFI’s work and mission, she joined GFI India as their Science and Technology Associate in October 2023. With this role, Amrutha is able to integrate her passion for alternative protein with her love for research and community building. She hopes to contribute towards fostering a diverse scientific community that shares GFI’s enthusiasm for advancing the alt protein sector in India.
